Here will be reports of the Quality of our Arizona Skies. I will be posting lots of reports to start, this is only to get a baseline reading for the areas. Readings From Other SQM Users
1. Midtown Tucson, by Dan McKenna (instrumentation expert) = 18.5
2. Suburban Tucson (Keith Schlottman, Xanadu Observatory) = 19.5
Texas Star Party = 21.76
Main Street USA in Disneyland = 14.97
3. Full Moon up at Flagstaff (Brian Skiff, Lowell astronomer) = 18.0 – 18.5
Best values for Mars Hill = 20.8, Anderson Mesa = 21.8
4. Unihedron database suggests “best” SQM readings >21.0
5. Fountain Hills, AZ (Gene Lucas, expert) = 19.5
6. Tom Polakis, astrophotographer: “not light polluted at all ” = 22.0
One can still find such sites in eastern Oregon and northern Nevada.
Any site with SQM > 21.5 is good for deep-sky viewing.
Unihedron model is sensitive enough to be affected by Milky Way or Z-Light.
